Why This Brand Wrapped Fresh Vegetables in Trash Bags

This brand wrapped fresh vegetables in trash bags. But why?

Picture this: vegetables shaped like trash bags, or trash bags shaped like vegetables. Either way, you pause. You look again. And you question what you’re really seeing.

That was exactly the goal. The campaign was created by Wikifarmer, a global marketplace that connects farmers directly with buyers, removing the middlemen. But this time, they weren’t selling produce. They were asking a tougher question.

Why are we throwing it away? Every year, Greece wastes over 930,000 tons of edible food.

Not leftovers.

Not scraps.

But Edible food.

So instead of another billboard with a sad statistic, Wikifarmer chose shock value with purpose. Fresh vegetables were placed inside trash-bag-shaped packaging, visually telling us how we treat food: like garbage.

It launched on World Food Day, but it didn’t feel like just another “awareness” post. It felt like a wake-up call. Because honestly, do we need another campaign…or do we finally need change?

A campaign that doesn’t just inform, it confronts, and that’s what makes it unforgettable. To stay updated, follow us on Instagram and LinkedIn.
